Over the past ten years, Louise Powell-McCarthy has dedicated herself to the United Way Centraide Movement in Canada. She served as the founding Executive Director of the United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador starting in 2004, and joined United Way Centraide Canada in 2008.
In her current role as Vice President, Governance and Networks, Louise is responsible for overseeing the United Way Centraide Movement’s governance at both the Board level as well as the Movement level, as well as overseeing the Movement’s peer-to-peer networking system.
Louise has a Bachelors’ Degree and Masters’ Degree in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. In 2014 Louise was named a United Way Worldwide Fellow, following the successful completion of the UWW Fellows Program.
