Serge Desrochers graduated with a bachelor in business administration from the University of Ottawa and a bachelor in accounting science from the University of Québec en Outaouais. He is a chartered professional accountant and member of the Ordre des Comptables Professionnels Agréés du Québec.
Mr. Desrochers is a retired partner of Deloitte. During his professional career, he specialized in assurance & advisory services to the public sector. He was the National Public Sector Leader for Assurance & Advisory Services for Deloitte (Public sector included federal, provincial and municipal governments, education and health sectors and the not for profit sector).
As lead client service partner, Serge was responsible for the delivery of assurance services to many organizations, including The Canadian Red Cross Society, CARE Canada, The University of Ottawa, Algonquin College, La Cité Collégiale, The City of Gatineau, The Ottawa Hospital and The Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Over the years, Serge has worked with many Boards and Audit committees in implementing leading governance practices, more specifically around financial oversight and risk management. He led the update to the Deloitte publication ‘’The Effective Not for Profit Board̏ in 2014, a reference publication for good governance practices for not for profit organizations.
Serge has also contributed to volunteer boards in the past. He served as President of the Regroupement des Gens d’Affaires de la Capitale Nationale, Board member and Treasurer of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award Foundation, President of Pinoteau Village condominium associations, and member of Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Ottawa 2004 to 2010 Campaigns.
