Every year on February 11, communities across Canada come together to celebrate 211 Day—a moment to recognize the vital role 211 plays in connecting people to the help they need, when they need it most. As the front door to essential community and social services, 211 continues to be a lifeline for individuals facing challenges like housing instability, mental health concerns, financial strain, food insecurity, or simply not knowing where to turn.

This year’s 211 Day was our brightest yet.

United Glow Illuminates the Country

More than 80 landmarks, public buildings, bridges, and monuments glowed red across the country, each one a beacon reminding residents that help is just three digits away. Symbolizing hope, help and human connection, these illuminations shine a light on 211 Day, raising awareness about the heart of 211’s mission—connecting people to possibilities in moments of uncertainty.

Proclamations Show Strong Public Support

In addition to the stunning illuminations, 38 municipal and provincial leaders issued official proclamations declaring February 11 as 211 Day in their communities, while dozens of municipal and provincial leaders recorded congratulatory videos to share with their own networks, demonstrating strong public support for 211 as a critical service in Canada. These are more than ceremonial gestures; they are public affirmations of the importance of 211 as an essential community resource.

Why 211 Matters—Now More Than Ever

Data from 211’s new national dashboard shows that mental health and housing are consistently among the two highest needs, including unmet needs and requests for crisis support.

At a time when many families and individuals are feeling the pressures of rising costs, social isolation, and complex life challenges, 211 provides clarity, connection, and comfort. Whether by phone, text, chat, or online search, 211 ensures that no one must navigate hardship alone.

A Big Thank You

To every community that lit up red, every leader who issued a proclamation, and every supporter who helped spread the word, we say thank you.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to helping people find the right supports at the right time. And next year? We’re aiming to glow even brighter.
