COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund
In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic.
But it was in the weeks before that public health agencies, social services agencies, municipal governments, and United Way Centraide gathered to see how we could support those most in need in communities across Canada. Since then, grassroots groups have formed. Neighbours are helping neighbours. Volunteers are stepping up.
Everyone has an important role to play.
Ensure people have access to life’s essentials, such as food and shelter.
CAPACITY FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES
Ensure that community partners can continue to do their vital local work and enable system navigation services like 211 to support them.
HELP FOR SENIORS
Ensure that while vulnerable people are isolated, they are also supported.
We will get through this together
We know that many people in our communities are not able to manage the needs of their family during the Covid-19 crisis. Many do not have supports, should they need to self-isolate. Those who already face barriers—like poverty, homelessness and social isolation—need even more help during this time. As you protect your family and keep those closest to you healthy, we urge you to think of your neighbours who may need your help.
Together we can keep our communities strong.
